The Greater Cincinnati Urban
League (Urban League) located
at 3458 Reading Road is in the
process of accepting, as a
donation, property located at
808 Cleveland Avenue from
the Model Group. The building
was acquired about two years
ago by the Model Group as part of a larger portfolio. Knowing the expansion needs of the Urban League, the Model Group saw this as a great opportunity to assist the agency by providing the adjacent Cleveland Avenue property for their future expansion plans. Over the last couple of years, the Model Group has been relocating previous tenants from the Cleveland Avenue property into to other housing throughout Avondale. The building was demolished as part of the Moving Ohio Forward initiative by the Port Authority and the City of Cincinnati.

Avondale CHOICE Neighborhood Project
Avondale Development Projects
The Community Builders Choice efforts begin with the rehabilitation of five multifamily up Reading Road (Somerset, Maple, Poinciana, Alameda and Crescent Court), the expansion of the Avondale Town Center, mixed used development at Forest and Burnet Avenues, renovations of the Commodore and Ambassador Apartments, along with potential housing development along Reading Road.
Over five years, Avondale Choice and The Community Builders will restore or rebuild nine apartment buildings on near Reading Road between Blair Avenue and Shuttlesworth Circle. The Avondale Comprehensive will work to involve residents in neighborhood safety, community civic organizations and priortizing neighborhood investments.
Together, residents and community partners are working together to make the best Choice for Avondale's future.
ACDC is concentrating it's efforts in the geography from Reading Road and Forest north on Reading to Glenwood, west on Glenwood to Washington, south on Washing to Forest and east on Forest back to Reading. This geography encompasses the Avondale Town Center and has been named the Avondale Town Center District. In this district ACDC has been donated a home, received a Chase grant to rehabilitate that home, and purchased an abandoned multi-family with the intent on demolishing (with the help of the City) this structure and building a new housing development that would be semi-gated. Additionally, in the district, ACDC is working with Habitat for Humanity to develop relationships with their homeowners, the City and Port Authority on the acquisition of every vacant lot in the district for potential infill development. There is also a potential purchase of property at 666 Glenwood and another potential donation on Van Antwerp.
